7 Ways to Have a Magical Christmas on a Budget

Out and about

Imagine a white Christmas with pure white snow covering the roads and trees. Every step you take you hear that familiar snow sound crunching from beneath your shoes.

Take a walk to your local park. This is free, makes you exercise and you can take in that crisp fresh air. Breathe...The kids can run around, perhaps take your dog for a walk.

Why not also visit a museum or an art gallery? There is always a magical energy around museums this time of year. With all the artefacts and history in the building and of course the stunning architecture of the buildings, you're guaranteed to have a merry time. There are plenty of free museums to visit.

Explore a city! When was the last time you were a tourist in your own home city? Make a day of it, wrap up warm and check out where you live!

Gifts

How about creating a recipe book for a friend of family member? If you know the type of foods your friends like you can scrawl through the Internet looking for free recipes. You can copy and paste these into a Word Document, make it look pretty and print it out. So, if your friend is a vegetarian look for veggie recipes. If they love chocolate, look for delicious, creamy chocolate recipes. This is a very thoughtful gift and will cost next to nothing.

Greeting Cards

You can make your own greeting cards or send ecards saving on postal costs. There are plenty of fantastic ecard websites which are not seen as tacky anymore.

Food

Your local supermarket will have plenty of deals and discounts in the build up to the festive season. You can now enjoy a feast for less. The trick, plan, plan, plan. Write down before you go the supermarket exactly what you need and don't deviate from the plan! Only buy what you came for in the first place.

Party

There is no need to spend ridiculous amounts on alcohol in your local bars and clubs. This can cost a small fortune when you include the entrance fees too. Invite your friends to your house. Ask them to bring a bottle and make it a themed night. For example, your party can be a Moroccan theme and as part of it, guests must bring a small Moroccan dish. This means you do not have to buy the alcohol and cater for the party. Fun times had by all!
