My parents have one more week to cancel our hotel reservations for the parade. They said because some schools are pulling out of the parade that it must not be a safe place to be. They saved for TWO YEARS so they could take us and now we may not be able to go because of the protesters! They are making me SO MAD!! my sister wanted to go to the American Girl shop. I wanted to go skating at the big rink. we were planning to see the Rockettes christmas show and see all the christmas decorations in the store fronts. It was going to be SO much fun!!!This is SO unfair!!!

Why can't the President just give them what they want so they will leave? Do you think they will be gone by next week? Please, please please tell me they will be gone next week!!!!!!

3) They can't just leave overnight because this is an ongoing problem. maybe you don't pay attention to anything outside of your own world of American Girls, skating, and the Rockettes, but the country is in a recession. the economic state of things is terrible, we are in debt, we are at war with multiple places, and no one is happy about it. Fundamentally, what they want is change. They want the government to respond to their needs.

So, sorry to say, but I doubt the protesters will be gone by next week unless you expect that the debt, financial crisis, and everything else will be resolved by next week. sorry. but, do tell your parents that the protesters are protesting PEACEFULLY, not violently. tell them to keep that in mind before cancelling your trip. It's unlikely that they're going to hurt you because you're visiting New York. that being said, although your trip will probably be relatively safe, it might not be much fun because there will probably be cops and security all over the place. but good luck!

A better way would be to plant them, put them in your refrigerator for the required period of time, and then take them out. They take a few weeks to bloom once coming out of the refrigerator.

The plant itself will need to be grown outdoors...it will do nothing indoors. It needs full sun to part shade. You can definately grow them in pots but when they flower you can bring them indoors.

It depends on what characteristic part of the Island you fall in love with. There's nothing truly authentic in San Juan or Condado, I traveled outside of the main areas of puerto rico to get a rich history of the culture.

When you shop for chachka's and souvenirs be weary of the vendors and the places they come from. a lot of it is made in DR, Brazil and hardly in PR. when I went I had to sift through items ie jewelry boxes, frames etc.. made from teak wood from brazil and as far as costa rica. The paintings came from DR/Haiti same difference cause they are made by Haitian Artists.

Make sure to travel to the outskirts of town and not fall into the trap of buying something touristy, no family memeber wants to be stuck with that. I bought a lot of mirros/ hand made frames and dresses when I went to puerto rico. Think about the gift and see if it would be something you would like sitting in your living room or the back of a closet.

My dad is an avid motorcycle and football fan. My mom is into candles, orderliness, a lot of tv shows, but doesnt necessarily have anything that she's REALLY into. Go to a specialty or gourmet foods store and buy a bag of candy- coated almonds, a big piece of angel food cake, an orange and/or banana and a kosher candy bar. Kosher items have a U or K written near the ingredients on the labels. ask the clerks for help. he will enjoy your thoughtfulness.

There are many websites for kosher candies and cookies. If he is ultra Conservative, find a box of Hanukkah candles at a bookstore or supermarket, a toy top called a dreidle, and a book of some Hanukkah stories or cookie cutters in star shapes or candle shapes can all go into a Hanukkah gift basket. you could even pack a basket with ribbons in blue and silver and tape and Hanukkah papers for him to pack his own gifts to his family. a sort of gift wrap basket.
Its nice to see that you would include him in your plans, just remember that Hanukkah comes at a different time than Christmas, and plan accordingly.

Cookies are only Kosher if they have a K or a U in a circle on the box. Regular cookies are not Kosher if they have been baked on pans not cleaned with Kosher soap. No orthodox Jew would take the chance of ingesting something he was unsure about.
