My mother is insisting we exchange homemade gifts this christmas. anyone have any ideas for cool homemade gifts? Thanks so much!

Think of what each member likes or can use. Practical gifts are the best, coz they are being used & appreciated.

eg. you could make little doilies [crochet/knitting], fabric coasters, hot-pads, apron, table-mats, etc. you could use fabric paint to decorate them.

You could also do monograms on towels - very personalized.

Or stationery ; make letter-pads ot telephone message pads with a little personal monogram or flourish; or calendar..

You could make papier mache articles : pen-stand, bowls, vase, etc.

You could embellish stuff with pot-pourri or other dried flowers. in fact make a wreath using pot-pourri herbs & flowers.

Make tree ornaments, something for the nativity scene, greeting cards, bookmarks, tags, etc. in fact you could make a set of greeting cards [blank inside, if you wish] for the entire year, for each ocasion, so that the person does not have to go out & buy any everytime.

You could also adorn gift-wrapping paper with color pens, ribbons, sequins, beads, buttons, etc.
Make a book-cover for someone who likes reading books.

Sew or weave a spectacle case for somebody's glasses. you can do it with an old silk tie or duct-tape, etc.

Make artificial flowers out of ribbon, twigs, paper (origami), etc.

Make mini-scrapbooks.
